Direct User Data – can encompass a wide variety of information relating to a person who can be identified or who are identifiable, directly from the information in question, or who can be indirectly identified from that information in combination with other information. User data is typically local data that individuals need to perform their specific tasks. This data is to be kept in the file systems that are specifically created for user data.

Direct methods include direct interviews, surveys, focus groups, and usability roundtables.
