Design validation – is a special assessment that ensures that the design has the features and elements identified as necessary during the user analysis.

The purpоse of design validation is to verify that the design meets the needs of the users. Through design validation, an organization verifies that a product or service is fit for its intended use. Various methods can be used for validation, for example, trials or tests conducted in the end-user environment, process capability studies.

Vаlidation tests include test cases, test suites, or even clinical trials designed to prove that the product, as designed, works as expected in the environment in which the user intends to usе it.

Strategies and methods of design validation

Design validation is all about walking a tightrope and akin to composing a symphony from design elements that will sound pleasing for end-users and stakeholders implementing several strategies and methods:

  • User testing and the linchpin of conducting it with representative users allows to observe how end-users will interact with your web or mobile solution. It’s all being conducted through scenarios, feedback sessions that make it real to identify usability errors and validate design decisions.
  • Prototype testing that feels like sculpting marble gathering feedback from testers refining design as it must be according to users expectations. Identifying problems you are able to test not only low-fidelity wireframes but high-fidelity prototypes as well.
  • Eye tracking is widely used to analyze gaze patterns within interface investigating what design elements are attracting attention and what are ignored by testers.
