CASE as referring to Computer-Aided Software Engineering is the use of automated computerized tools as an added aid during the software development lifecycle. Such a tool acts as a built-in program in order to analyze how well-executing the developing system is enhancing its quality and deliverables.

The overarching purpose of computer-aided software engineering lies in ensuring that the requirements of the projects are met with the highest quality by facilitating a checkpoint-based disciplined approach. Looking at CASE as tool for easing the load on the manual labor it granted valuable results but has lost its popularity over the years.
