Analog to digital converter is a device familiarly called integrated circuits that perform the function of converting the continuous analog signal into a digital signal. The analog signals are continuous infinite values for example sound, voltage, motion, etc., and digital signals are discrete sequential values. The analog to digital converter, in fact, is to convert the actual data into the digital so that it might be worked upon or stored through the systems of software.

Basically, the quantification of sample signals and changing it into binary form in which pulse-width modulation (PWM) is commonly used. Analog to digital conversion allows software applications to see and manipulate real world data sources.
