ALT Text Definition
ALT Text – is written copy added to help non-graphical browsers. It appears if an image is not displayed and describes the appearance or function of an image on a web page if the image is not loaded on the user’s screen.
Alternative text is read aloud by programs called screen readers, which are used by people with visual impairments and low vision.
In cases where the image cannot be reproduced, the text is displayed as follows: “Crowd of tourists in Times Square”.
Alternative text can also be viewed through the code of a web page, which helps search engines understand the nature of the image on the site.
