Ascender Definition
Ascender – is the rising part of a letter shape (often a vertical stroke) that extends above the x-height and usually above the height of the pin, such as the base of a lowercase b or d. They are used in handwriting or printed letters, and help to recognize it.
Examples of ascenders are uppercase and some lowercase letters.
Lowercase letters that are ascenders include: “b, d, f, h, i, j, k, l, and t”.
For example, the tоp of the letters “b”, “d”, or “h”: The font pitch is measured from the top of the ascending line to the bottom of the descending line.
