Adaptive maintenance is the application of the changes made in some parts of the system following the changes that had occurred in another part by adapting into the differences. It ensures that every part is accommodated with one another beneficial to keep the system consistent.

However, adaptive maintenance is not only responsible for the changes in the software or in the hardware but actually it aimed as to make system adoptable to its external environment i.e. it makes the system resilient to its changing around like fluctuations in regulatory compliances, market trends, updated operating systems and much more.
